Nancy L. Browne has been a member of the firm since 1985. She concentrates her practice in real estate law and has extensive experience working with buyers, sellers, developers, lenders, landlords and tenants on a wide variety of real estate-related matters. She negotiates, drafts, and closes commercial purchase and sale transactions, and works with engineers, surveyors, environmental consultants and municipal administrators to assist clients throughout the development of commercial property. She also represents local and national title insurance companies and their insureds in the analysis and resolution of complex real estate and title matters. Nancy has litigated quiet title actions, boundary and roadway disputes, adverse possession cases, and disputes involving restrictive covenants. She also handles judicial and non-judicial foreclosure actions, mechanic’s liens and suits to enforce them, and partition actions, including overseeing auctions of residential, commercial and farm properties.

Nancy received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Missouri in Columbia in 1981 and her law degree from MU in 1984. She is a Life Member of the Mizzou Alumni Association and a member of the University of Missouri Flagship Council. Nancy is an active member of The Missouri Bar and frequently speaks at Missouri Bar CLEs on real estate topics such as commercial contracts, farm leases, surveys and legal descriptions. She is a former chairman of The Missouri Bar Property Law Committee, and currently serves on the Legislative Review Committee. She was a member of the statewide taskforce responsible for drafting the new recording standards that went into effect in 2002 and formerly authored the Property Law section of The Missouri Bar Courts Bulletin publication. She is also a member and past President of the Cape Girardeau County Bar Association.

Nancy currently serves on the Board of Directors for SoutheastHealth Foundation, is a past Chairman of the Southeast Missouri Chapter of the American Red Cross, and is an Emeritus Member of the Board of Directors of that organization. She is a member of St Vincent’s Parish in Cape Girardeau, is married, and has three children.
